We've partnered with AirHelp to assist you in claiming compensation for lengthy delays or cancellations that happen on eligible flights to/from and within the European Union (EU).
What is AirHelp?
AirHelp specialises in helping air passengers claim compensation for delayed, cancelled and overbooked flights. With more than 1 million travellers helped, AirHelp has the resources and expertise to handle the complex claim process and to push back if the airlines refuse to pay.
How does it work?
TripIt will email you if your flight might be eligible for compensation and help you file a claim through AirHelp. Once your claim is filed, AirHelp does the rest of the hard work for you, including the paperwork and communication with the airlines, helping you claim compensation for your inconvenience.
You can also connect your TripIt and AirHelp accounts to see if you’re still eligible for compensation for any EU flight disruptions you’ve experienced in the past three years. You can connect your TripIt and AirHelp accounts on the AirHelp website by signing in with your TripIt credentials.
All this is possible because of EU laws that protect European passengers against lengthy delays and other travel disruptions.
What flights are eligible for compensation?
You can check to see which EU flights are eligible here.
Will it cost me anything?
AirHelp will deduct a service fee from your total compensation amount only if your claim is successful. This service fee is already accounted for in the compensation amount in the email from TripIt, so you’ll receive the amount you see if the flight is eligible. AirHelp uses their legal aviation knowledge and experience to take care of the difficult and time-consuming paperwork and communication needed with the airlines to get them to compensate you. If AirHelp is unable to assist you in receiving compensation, you will not pay anything at all.
How long can the process take?
AirHelp processes the claim but it’s up to the airline to accept and pay out the compensation. The turnaround can be quick or can take awhile, it really depends on the airline.
